Configure your IP telephony

Did you know that one of the advantages of IP telephony (VoIP) is its portability?

Regardless of where you go, if you have access to broadband Internet, you can use your IP gateway. For example, no matter if your IP gateway is set up at your residence in Québec City, Florida or Montreal, you can always make and receive calls!

The only thing you need to check is that your telephone number is local to avoid long-distance charges. For example, if you are travelling to a remote area and you want to call your neighbour in Quebec City, the call will be considered local. However, if you are calling the restaurant across the street in Florida, the call will be considered long distance, even though you are calling from Florida. The reference point for your IP gateway remains ORICOM.

IP telephony is an excellent solution if you have family abroad and want to communicate with them over the phone on a regular basis, because these calls will always be considered local.
