Configuring a Cable or DSL Connection for a D-LINK Router

Serial number: DIR-600 and higher

  1. Make sure that the router and computer are connected properly
  2. Open your Web browser, e.g. « Internet Explorer », « Firefox » or « Safari ».
  3. In the address bar, enter: « 192.168.0.1 »
  4. A window will open, asking you to enter your user name and password. Enter « admin » in the « Username » field. Leave the « Password » field blank, then click « Log In ».
  5. A window will confirm that you have entered the D-Link router’s settings. You will see an image and several tabs.
  6. Click « Setup » in the menu at the top.
  7. Click « Manual Internet Connection Setup ».
  8. Follow these steps, depending on the type of Internet connection: « DSL » (by telephone line) or« Cable » (by coaxial cable).

Cable

  1. Select « Dynamic IP ».
  2. Finish by clicking « Save Settings » in the upper middle part of the page.

DIR-600 et plus - Config Dynamic IP

DSL

  1. Select « PPPoE ».
  2. A little lower down, you will see « User Name ». Enter the ORICOM INTERNET email address provided when you subscribed. Example: client@oricom.ca
  3. Enter your password in the « Password ».
  4. Confirm your password under « Verify Password ».
  5. For « Reconnect Mode », Select « Always-On ».
  6. Finish by clicking « Save Settings » in the middle part of the page.
