Troubleshooting and Problem-solving in Mac Mail

If you are unable to send or receive emails, or you receive an error message in Mac Mail, follow these steps:

Check that your Internet connection is working properly. If so, do the following:

If you see the « Please enter the password for user "customer" » message:

Solution

  • Check the user name and password
  • Make sure you did enter the « @oricom.ca » part in the user name.

If you see this message: « Unable to send message via ptms.oricom.ca server »

Solution

  • Check the incoming and outgoing server. In this case, the name of the outgoing server was entered incorrectly. Write « smtp.oricom.ca » instead of ptms.oricom.ca

If this does not solve the problem, contact technical support.
